Every parcel delivery operator in the UK is doing the same maths. Volumes keep climbing. Depots keep expanding. And somewhere in the middle of it all sits the van. This is the vehicle that will define the cost, the carbon footprint and the customer experience of every delivery.
For years the choice has been between compromises. Great load space with limited range. Great range with limited payload. Great electric credentials with a load bay never designed for parcel work. BYD have built something different.
The BYD eVali is a large electric van designed from the ground up for the European last-mile market. Not adapted from an existing platform. Not retrofitted with a battery. Purpose-built… Let me say that again purpose-built! Up to 17.9m³ of load space in the long-wheelbase version, a payload of up to 1,450kg, a Blade Battery supporting vehicle-to-load capability, and a 10 to 80 percent rapid charge in around half an hour, so a van tops up over a driver’s break rather than swallowing half a shift.
For urban parcel operators, those are the numbers that matter. And with fleets like Evri already committed to electrification, targeting net-zero by 2035, with more than 270 electric vans on the road this year alone and as such the market for a purpose-built delivery EV has never been sharper.
But BYD couldn’t solve everything on its own. A van, however well engineered, is a shell. What happens inside it — the shelving, racking, flooring, the way tools and parcels are organised is what turns this vehicle into a productive versatile workspace.
That is where we come in. Modul-System UK has been named the first vehicle conversion specialist in the UK to fit out the new BYD eVali. That distinction has a real practical consequence: we have already done the hard work of proving what works, building and validating conversion scenarios across the platform.
Two completely different working environments
Our demonstrator vehicle shows two completely different working environments inside a single eVali, a proof point of just how versatile the platform can be. On the nearside: dedicated parcel delivery shelving, organised for courier and last-mile operators who need parcels moving through the van at the speed of a delivery round. On the offside: our proven lightweight aluminium racking, designed for engineers, utility fleets, telecoms and mobile service operators. Two industries. One vehicle. Same platform.
The whole build sits on Modul-Floor, our lightweight flooring system, with protective wall linings finishing the interior. Weight matters more than ever on an EV, every kilogram saved is another kilogram of payload, or another mile of range. And because we’ve already worked through the configurations, you don’t have to.
